I’ve got big, exciting news to share with you! Tomorrow, Louise Fletcher starts her FREE Find Your Joy Taster course! This is the best course I’ve found. It runs from Aug. 29-Sept. 6th. And it’s real content that will change your art and possibly your life. It changed mine.
The course launches at noon central time tomorrow on Facebook.
Last year, when Louise offered this course, I was recovering from major surgery. I signed up ahead of surgery, thinking this would give me something to do quietly while I recovered. I struggled with the recovery and couldn’t keep up with the lessons. It didn’t matter. I got what I needed from this course.
I wrote the lessons down and completed them at a snail’s pace. The important thing was I watched all of it, the lessons and the live question and answer sessions.
It’s hard to spend money on my art practice, buying paper and supplies. And the thing I struggle most to justify is training costs.
If you’ve taken a course with me, you know my mantra: the only bad art supply is the one you don’t use. Well, that goes triple for me when I’m weighing investing in training. How good is the trainer? Will I get all ramped up and then fail to follow through? Can I justify the time and expense? If I ask these questions, I’m guessing you do, too.
Because I worry about accessibility, I only put free training in the Spark newsletter. While the course is free, it’s a BIG commitment. It’s nine days of training. You will need to do the lessons to get the most out of it. With an hour of video training and a minimum of an hour of painting, you’re looking at 18 hours. You can do what I did: attend the training, take notes, and do the lessons at your own pace. It took me a month to complete the lessons. It might well take you longer. Or you might be a super-achiever and complete them all in nine days.
Is it right for you?
This is for you if you want to explore your art practice. It doesn’t matter what you do. Yes, Louise uses acrylic paints, but the medium isn’t important. You can use watercolor, oil, pastel, collage, jewelry, and clay. What is essential is how Louise opens you up to find what delights, amazes, and inspires you. This is not a techniques class, though you will learn some of those.
This is for you if you have a soul-thirsting hunger to explore creatively.
This is for you if you have nine hours over the next nine days.
Whether this is for you or not, I encourage you to explore Louise’s YouTube channel. She has so many great free training videos. Louise works in acrylics, but I find her techniques, especially around composition, tone, and color mixing, applicable no matter your medium.
I’m back in my studio, making things. And I’m taking Louise’s course. So, Spark will resume on a more regular schedule, mostly weekly. Thanks for bearing with me as I prepared for my one-woman show. I’ll have loads to say about the show next week.
